Intervenci\u00f3n en un peque\u00f1o apartamento barcelon\u00e9s, para transformarlo en una vivienda fluida, conservando la intimidad de los diferentes espacios, casi sin necesidad de puertas. La vivienda, est\u00e1 emplazada en el coraz\u00f3n de Ciutat Vella, a escasos metros del antiguo mercado del Born, en uno de los barrios de moda de Barcelona. Desde el principio, uno de las premisas m\u00e1s interesantes fue el enfoque de la clienta de lo que deb\u00eda ser su hogar: un espacio amplio donde fluir.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery espacio: la propietaria quer\u00eda huir de programas de viviendas convencionales. Buscaba flexibilidad en el uso de los espacios. La peque\u00f1a superficie de 50 m2 deb\u00eda ser su refugio, su lugar de trabajo, el lugar de reuni\u00f3n para compartir con amigos, sin que ello implicase hipotecar \u00e1reas para (exclusivamente) cada funci\u00f3n. Una premisa importante era el uso de las diferentes estancias sin establecer jerarqu\u00edas entre ellas, priorizando su versatilidad y conservando la intimidad de ciertas \u00e1reas como el dormitorio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desde el punto de vista del espacio<\/strong><br>Para la due\u00f1a, el mayor lujo resid\u00eda en el espacio. Un espacio basado en el orden y la disciplina, alejado de la abundancia, materializado desde un ejercicio de depuraci\u00f3n que valora el vac\u00edo como una forma de riqueza espacial donde la persona puede desenvolverse con m\u00e1s plenitud.<\/p>\n<p><strong>El diagn\u00f3stico<\/strong><br>Gracias a la huella perimetral en U (de patas cortas) qued\u00f3 claro que el contorno de la vivienda, proporcionar\u00eda un gran potencial: la posibilidad de un \u00fanico espacio fluido y luminoso, sin necesidad de crear particiones f\u00edsicas, ya que los quiebres de la U, inevitablemente ven\u00edan acompa\u00f1ados de una p\u00e9rdida de \u00abespacio \u00fanico\u00bb, otorgando \u00abcierta intimidad\u00bb en cada sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La propuesta funcional y espacial<\/strong><br>Sobre la base de esta observaci\u00f3n, la propuesta busc\u00f3 responder a la siguiente cuesti\u00f3n: \u00bfC\u00f3mo conectar las distintas zonas de la vivienda para conseguir un \u00fanico espacio garantizando la privacidad de la zona de noche?<\/p>\n<p>La idea principal era dise\u00f1ar un espacio fluido para que su propietaria se moviera libremente por la casa, garantizando la intimidad de la zona de noche. Este requerimiento era contradictorio con la idea de tener un \u00fanico espacio, pero hab\u00eda soluci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Se propuso un sistema de espacios consecutivos conectados entre s\u00ed. El piso se organizar\u00eda a partir de un espacio central donde ocurrir\u00eda toda la vida de la casa.<\/p>\n<p>El juego entre estos dos temas enfrentados: un \u00fanico espacio fluido y la conservaci\u00f3n de la intimidad se resolvi\u00f3 con la posici\u00f3n del cuarto de ba\u00f1o (ducha vestidor).<\/p>\n<p>Cuarto de ba\u00f1o (ducha-vestidor) pivotando entre el dormitorio y el toilette, resuelve la articulaci\u00f3n entre la zona social y la zona de noche, permitiendo el doble funcionamiento del toilette (como aseo de cortes\u00eda y aseo del dormitorio en suite). El quiebre de una de las patas de la U, garantiza la intimidad del dormitorio sin necesidad de puerta.<\/p>\n<p>Con esta disposici\u00f3n funcional, se deambula alrededor de la ducha-vestidor, consiguiendo una circulaci\u00f3n circular que permite una relaci\u00f3n privada entre dormitorio y aseo.<\/p>\n<p>Gracias a la puerta de cristal entre dormitorio y vestidor (que garantiza la estanqueidad del vapor), el cuarto de ba\u00f1o, recibe toda la luz natural que entra a trav\u00e9s del dormitorio.<\/p>\n<p>Con el fin de conseguir un espacio interior lo m\u00e1s amplio posible, se plante\u00f3 una cocina en l\u00ednea, dotada de una gran capacidad de almacenaje (desarrollada en 5 metros lineales), y practicando dos grandes huecos en su desarrollo: uno apaisado -donde se resuelve el plano de trabajo: fregadero, placa cocci\u00f3n- y otro vertical -enmarcando la ventana orientada al patio interior. From the beginning, one of the most interesting propositions was the client&#8217;s focus on what her home should be like: an open free-flowing space.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>From a functional point-of-view<\/strong><\/em><br><em>Functional requirements recommended the complete redefinition of the space. The owner was keen to avoid floorplans typical of conventional homes. She was looking for flexibility in the use of space. A limited surface area of 50 m2 had to become her refuge, her work area, and a place to welcome friends without that requiring areas designed exclusively for each function. A guiding principle was the creation of various areas without establishing hierarchies to prioritise their versatility and conserve the intimacy of certain areas such as the bedroom.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>From a spatial point-of-view<\/strong><\/em><br><em>As far as the owner was concerned, SPACE is the height of luxury. Space based on order and discipline, which eschews abundance and manifests itself in an exercise of distillation that places a value on emptiness as a form of spatial wealth in which people are more able to live life to the full.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The diagnosis<\/strong><\/em><br><em>It was clear from the U-shaped floorplan with its stumpy legs that the home&#8217;s outline had a huge potential: the possibility of a single free-flowing and light space with no need for physical partitions. The bends of the U inevitably reduced the sense of a \u2018single space&#8217; and endowed each sector with a \u2018little intimacy&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The functional and spatial proposal<\/strong><\/em><br><em>On the basis of this observation, the proposal sought to respond to the following question: How can the different zones of the home be connected to achieve a single space and ensure the privacy of the night-time area?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The main idea was to design a free-flowing space so that the owner could move freely around the house while guaranteeing the intimacy of the night-time area. This requirement contradicted the idea of creating a single space, but there was a solution.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A system of consecutive interconnected spaces was proposed. The flat would be organised around a central area in which all the life of the residence would be lived.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The interplay between these two juxtaposed ideas, a free-flowing space and the preservation of intimacy, was resolved with the location of the bathroom (shower-walk-in wardrobe).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The bathroom (shower-walk-in wardrobe) hinged between the bedroom and toilet, resolves the interconnection between the social zone and the night-time zone, enabling the twofold function of the toilet (as a visitor&#8217;s toilet and en-suite bathroom). The bend in one of the U&#8217;s legs ensures the intimacy of the bedroom without the need for a door.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This functional layout makes it possible to walk through the shower-walk-in wardrobe in a circular fashion that provides a private route from the bedroom to the toilet.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And a glass door between the bedroom and the walk-in wardrobe (sealing in the water vapour), means the bathroom benefits from the bedroom&#8217;s natural light.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In order to obtain as large an interior space as possible, the kitchen was designed lineally and equipped with a lot of storage capacity (5 metres in length) with two large gaps along the way: a horizontal one for the countertop, sink and cooker, and a vertical one framing the window onto the interior courtyard. One of the kitchen cabinet doors provides access to a laundry room.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The use of colour also contributes to setting the scene. The spatial unity was enhanced with wooden flooring.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The walls and ceiling constitute a white canvas backing for several pre-Columbian artefacts and works of art, which break up the rigidity of the home and provide Casa Born with personality.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The project overcame existing limitations to reveal the soul of the space and respond to the aspirations of its inhabitant in the best way possible.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>About GokoStudio<\/strong><\/em><br><em>GokoStudio is a firm of architects whose methodology is based on the singularity of each project.
