Concebido en los a\u00f1os cincuenta a ra\u00edz de largas exploraciones entre las piedras volc\u00e1nicas del Xitle, ya ocupadas para ese entonces por fauna y flora end\u00e9mica, pocos lugares de la ciudad representan un escenario tan rico para la arquitectura moderna en M\u00e9xico como el Jard\u00ednes del Pedregal. Localizado en un predio de 3000 m2 donde alguna vez se erigi\u00f3 la casa de la familia Bra\u00fcer (1955), este proyecto surge y absorbe los elementos caracter\u00edsticos de un sitio que cautiv\u00f3 a arquitectos, fot\u00f3grafos, artistas y tantos otros intelectuales de la modernidad mexicana.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-70952 gallery-columns-3 partir de dos ejes. Por un lado, la ret\u00edcula previa a este proyecto, un peque\u00f1o eco a la antigua casa Bra\u00fcer. Por el otro, los preceptos establecidos ya desde un inicio del desarrollo del Pedregal, los cuales apostaban a que la arquitectura y el paisaje se comunicaran entre s\u00ed. As\u00ed tres casas se resguardan en medio de un jard\u00edn maduro. Como remate visual de las casas, un jard\u00edn de suculentas funge como espacio de contemplaci\u00f3n y silencio. Este jard\u00edn incluye una escultura del estudio Tezontle que se remite a las grandes piezas de Edward James en la selva Huasteca, otro artista moderno cuyo inter\u00e9s era fundir arquitectura humana y vegetal en un solo di\u00e1logo.<\/p>\n<p>Los vol\u00famenes de la casa son sencillos, sustentados en el principio de proporciones \u00e1ureas. Columnas y ventanales se encargan de generar ritmo y secuencia, a la vez que proporcionan una cantidad perfecta de iluminaci\u00f3n natural y de vistas orientadas hacia los jardines del conjunto en el caso de las \u00e1reas p\u00fablicas y jardines privados en el de las \u00edntimas.<\/p>\n<p>El acceso a la casa lo gu\u00eda una escalinata que resalta el car\u00e1cter de la puerta principal y se rodea de jardineras y plantas en las fachadas. El vest\u00edbulo constituye una primera escala interior desde la que se accede a la estancia y el comedor, que a su vez conducen a la cocina y a un cuarto familiar. Dormitorios y sala de televisi\u00f3n se encuentran en el segundo nivel, mientras que la tercera planta est\u00e1 reservada para un espacio espec\u00edficamente dedicado a la comodidad, el cual se extiende en una terraza amplia y un gimnasio.<\/p>\n<p>Los materiales elegidos para las fachadas delimitan geom\u00e9tricamente los diferentes niveles de vol\u00famenes. As\u00ed se establece un orden y se crean bloques que demarcan el espacio entre losas, muros y columnas, a la vez que denotan la horizontalidad del proyecto y generan las plataformas necesarias para darle visibilidad a sus diferentes profundidades.<\/p>\n<p>Todo esto se enmarca a trav\u00e9s de los despieces con proporciones \u00e1ureas sobre una cantera gris que presume un rasgado de superficie a 45\u00ba. Este pulido y elegante trabajo artesanal dota a la fachada de una identidad \u00fanica que, a trav\u00e9s del uso de materiales de origen local, se remite una vez m\u00e1s a lo mejor de la arquitectura del movimiento modernista en el Pedregal.<\/p>\n<p>Ante la firmeza s\u00f3lida de la cantera, de las herrer\u00edas y del concreto, el dise\u00f1o de interiores ofrece un contraste a trav\u00e9s de la calidez del roble, de muros te\u00f1idos que hacen eco de la cantera y de una iluminaci\u00f3n tenue que suaviza y otorga prioridad a los espacios abiertos del entorno natural de la zona.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marco te\u00f3rico<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00abEste valle que ves, taller de fuego, f\u00e1brica de volcanes, es hoy la gigantesca arquitectura de lo que furia fue y es ya sosiego\u00bb<\/em> (Carlos Pellicer).<\/p>\n<p>Agua Pedregal 210 proyecta una serie de recorridos en el tiempo. Como un palimpsesto que conserva las huellas de la escritura que le precedi\u00f3, las tres casas del proyecto respetan la traza original de la casa Bra\u00fcer de los a\u00f1os cincuenta, un ejemplo cl\u00e1sico del movimiento moderno del Pedregal de San \u00c1ngel. Algunos de los materiales originales se conservan aqu\u00ed y all\u00e1, peque\u00f1as instant\u00e1neas al pasado que alguna vez habit\u00f3 el sitio. Al mismo tiempo, la solidez de los muros de cantera y de estructuras escalonadas hacen eco a la larga historia de un sitio de formaciones volc\u00e1nicas venerado por las culturas antiguas y modernas del Valle de M\u00e9xico.<\/p>\n<p>Dec\u00eda el arquitecto Jos\u00e9 Villagr\u00e1n que el Pedregal confirmaba que \u00abera posible construir jardines entre las rocas\u00bb. Ya desde su Cat\u00e1logo de nombres vulgares y cient\u00edficos de plantas mexicanas (1923), Maximino Mart\u00ednez describ\u00eda el Pedregal como un sitio ideal para la exploraci\u00f3n naturalista que luego cautivar\u00eda entre sus senderos a arquitectos, fot\u00f3grafos, artistas e intelectuales de la modernidad mexicana. Perdido entre formaciones misteriosas, el sitio ofrec\u00eda la posibilidad de estar dentro y fuera de la ciudad al mismo tiempo.<\/p>\n<p>Respetando esta larga historia, el proyecto propone un di\u00e1logo continuo, eternamente presente, con su paisaje y su territorio. El cuidado trabajo de jardiner\u00eda es aqu\u00ed parte fundamental de la arquitectura. Un peque\u00f1o y recluido jard\u00edn de suculentas le da prominencia a la piedra volc\u00e1nica y se presenta como un lugar de contemplaci\u00f3n af\u00edn a aquello que los artistas de la modernidad mexicana encontraban al perderse entre los senderos de lava fr\u00eda. Cada espacio en cada una de las casas encuentra la manera de comunicarse con el exterior, ya sea a trav\u00e9s de ventanas, patios, bancas, terrazas o balcones. Casas y jardines madurar\u00e1n como contempor\u00e1neos, en una interacci\u00f3n siempre presente, \u00edntima.<\/p>\n<p>Al interior de las casas, las condiciones est\u00e1n dadas para que la vida familiar se geste c\u00f3modamente y madure en un ambiente propio. Frente a la solidez del concreto y la cantera, el pulido trabajo de madera en salas, closets y terrazas ofrece tanta calidez como la que aporta la dimensi\u00f3n misma de los espacios, amplios sin ser excesivos.<\/p>\n<p>El uso de proporciones \u00e1ureas para elementos como los ventanales produce secuencias balanceadas que amplifican el espacio como ondas en el agua. Este ritmo se traduce en recorridos fluidos, sin tropiezos, entre los espacios interiores.<\/p>\n<p>Deslizarse con facilidad por esta arquitectura, moverse sin notarlo entre casas y jardines, interiores y exteriores, terrazas y cuartos, resulta ya una experiencia placentera. Built on a 3000 square meters plot where a modern house once stood, the project absorbs the characteristic elements of a site that captivated architects, photographers and so many other artists and intellectuals of the Mexican modern movement.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Volumetrically, the proposal is organized around two axes. On the one hand, the footprint of the original house (1955). On the other hand, the precepts first established for the development of Jard\u00ednes del Pedregal that envisioned a place where architecture and landscape would communicate with each other. Therefore, all three houses are sheltered within a mature garden. As a visual complement for the houses, a succulent garden appears as a space for contemplation and silence. This garden includes a sculpture by Tezontle Studio that echoes the great pieces of Edward James in the Huastecan rainforest, another modern artist that attempted to establish a profound dialogue between human and vegetal architecture.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Volumes in the house are simple, sustained by the principle of the golden ratio. Columns and windows are in charge of generating rhythm and sequence, at the same time that they offer a perfect amount of natural illumination and garden views. If public spaces in the house point toward the common garden, intimate spaces turn to the private gardens behind each house.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A staircase surrounded by plants guides the houses&#8217; access and accentuates the material presence of the door. The central hall offers a circulating point inside the house. On the first floor, each house holds a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and a family room. Upstairs, you can find a more intimate family room, as well as three private spaces. The third floor is reserved for a terrace contemplating the vast natural views within an intimate and private space.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Materials selected for the facades geometrically frame the different levels and volumes. Order is created by these means through blocks that delineate spaces between walls and columns, at the very same time that they accentuate the horizontality of the project and generate platforms of different depths. The elegant, hand-crafted work of stonemasonry on the facades assembled through golden ratio proportions give an identity of its own.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>By employing local materials, this echoes once again the modernist movement in Jard\u00ednes del Pedregal. Balancing the solid foundations of stone, metal and concrete, the use of oak in the interior spaces offers a warm quality, as does the subtle illumination that grants primacy to the open natural
