Campo-Cid\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p><strong>El Rio Chicago<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La ciudad de Chicago se plantea regenerar toda su \u00e1rea fluvial, hasta ahora sin\u00f3nima de suciedad causada por la industria, y convertirla en un foco de atracci\u00f3n para el turismo, la actividad l\u00fadica y cultural.<\/p>\n<p>Esta regeneraci\u00f3n se desarrolla a partir de la aprobaci\u00f3n del \u00abChicago River Development Plan\u00bb que se divide en dos grandes puntos de actuaci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<p>1. La limpieza de la contaminaci\u00f3n del agua y las orillas del r\u00edo as\u00ed como la reconversi\u00f3n del flujo a su curso natural, ahora artificialmente bombeado hacia el Mississippi para evitar la entrada de la contaminaci\u00f3n al Lago Michigan, fuente de agua potable de la ciudad.<\/p>\n<p>2. La implantaci\u00f3n de un sistema de equipamientos a lo largo del r\u00edo para convertirlo en parque fluvial y atraer as\u00ed la actividad l\u00fadica y cultural hacia el interior de la ciudad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objetivo del proyecto<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El proyecto que se propone del Chicago River Center tiene el objetivo de responder a las necesidades de estos dos puntos de actuaci\u00f3n, y por lo tanto, tiene dos partes diferenciadas de programa:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>Centro de investigaci\u00f3n:<\/strong> de car\u00e1cter privado contiene: laboratorios de control del nivel de contaminaci\u00f3n del agua, oficinas desde donde se gestiona el r\u00edo y se controla la obertura\/cierre de la desembocadura seg\u00fan los niveles de contaminaci\u00f3n, y tambien un espacio de concienciaci\u00f3n y talleres para grupos visitantes\/escolares.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong>Centro de divulgaci\u00f3n:<\/strong> de car\u00e1cter p\u00fablico contiene: un espacio expositivo de la historia del r\u00edo Chicago, un auditorio para audiovisuales y conferencias, y un bar\/restaurante sobre mirando el r\u00edo y su paseo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emplazamiento<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El solar del proyecto, dentro de la cuadr\u00edcula ortogonal N-S de la ciudad, se sit\u00faa en el cruce del r\u00edo con la avenida Columbus Drive, un eje vertebrador de Chicago que ofrece una continuidad a lo largo de su recorrido a una serie de parques y a una serie de equipamientos. De esta manera la propuesta busca tambi\u00e9n ser un punto part\u00edcipe de estos dos sistemas y enriquecerlos.<\/p>\n<p>La \u00e1rea de la ciudad en la que se encuentra el solar tambi\u00e9n es especial porque en esta zona el downtown de Chicago se compone de dos niveles de cota diferenciada. Por un lado, a +0.00 m el paseo del r\u00edo y una calle \u00absubterr\u00e1nea\u00bb de servicio, y por otro a +9.60 m la calle de circulaci\u00f3n peatonal y de acceso a los edificios.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Estrategias de proyecto<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Las estrategias principales que se han seguido para desarrollar la propuesta arquitect\u00f3nica son:<\/p>\n<p>1. Crear una puerta de entrada y conexi\u00f3n entre la cota del futuro parque fluvial y la cota de la ciudad.<\/p>\n<p>2. Disponer el programa de manera que absorba de forma natural los diferentes niveles del solar, creando un z\u00f3calo com\u00fan de aparcamiento y poniendo en la base de los dos edificios el programa m\u00e1s flexible para que absorba la pendiente.<\/p>\n<p>Disponer el programa que m\u00e1s necesita una gran iluminaci\u00f3n natural (oficinas y espacio expositivo) en la planta superior, debajo la cubierta con ventanas cenitales.<\/p>\n<p>3. Establecer un di\u00e1logo constante con el r\u00edo. Por este motivo el proyecto se trabaja especialmente en secci\u00f3n para ligar todas las cotas con el r\u00edo y transmitir la sensaci\u00f3n de que el edificio en su conjunto se vuelca a mirarlo.<\/p>\n<p>4. Organizar sim\u00e9tricamente los dos edificios en planta, creando una plaza comun de entrada y dejando los n\u00facleos de comunicaci\u00f3n y servicios a los laterales de manera que el programa respira hacia el espacio p\u00fablico intermedio. Se modulan en una ret\u00edcula de 5&#215;5 metros para organizar el programa y ligar los dos edificios con el parking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expresion formal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En cuanto a los alzados, el aspecto principal que se ha tenido en cuenta es el di\u00e1logo con el que es el \u00fanico edificio del contexto de una escala similar a la propuesta, la Universidad de Chicago. Se relaciona con un juego de alturas y sigue el mismo lenguaje de gran mirador vidriado hacia el r\u00edo.<\/p>\n<p>Para los alzados laterales, se opta por una fachada de perfiles microperforados de acero, creando una textura de aire industrial y un efecto din\u00e1mico para el observador: cuando participa del espacio p\u00fablico generado entre los dos vol\u00famenes vive las oberturas y la actividad interior de estos, pero a medida que se va alejando van desapareciendo las ventanas difumin\u00e1ndose en la textura de esta cortina vertical de perfiles de acero.<\/p>\n<p>Para el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n se utiliza un m\u00f3dulo de obertura individual para todas las plantas, y para el Centro de divulgaci\u00f3n en el que todo el programa se desarrolla en dobles alturas se utiliza un m\u00f3dulo doble. Indicando as\u00ed en ambos casos la escala de los espacios interiores.<\/p>\n<p>Es as\u00ed c\u00f3mo se generan los dos vol\u00famenes que componen The Chicago River Center, que podr\u00edan recordar a los contenedores de transporte de mercader\u00edas por su forma y textura, o recordar tambi\u00e9n a la industria que ocupaba esta \u00e1rea por su cubierta tan caracter\u00edstica de dientes de sierra. The city of Chicago wills to regenerate the river area, known until now for its industrial polluted character, reconverting it into a cultural and tourist focal point.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The goal of the Chicago River Center project is to answer to the needs of this plan, therefore the program has two differentiated parts: The Research Center and The Visitor Center.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>With their shape and texture they could remind us of the transport containers, or with their roof with skylights they could also remind us of the factories that where once located on the river area, paying
